The 4th edition of the “Festival International de Musique Saint-Georges” will take place on November 20-24, 2023 in Guadeloupe. The organized have announced an exceptional program and hope to attract new partners and sponsors.
The “Festival International de Musique Saint-Georges,” opens on Monday, November 20 at the Pôle Caraïbe Airport in Guadeloupe with a special concert to kick off the event. “This classical music festival, the largest in the Caribbean, allows the French Antilles to distinguish themselves in terms of excellence and diversity. It deserves to be supported,” explains maestro Marlon Daniel, artistic director of the Festival.
On November 18, at the “Résidence Départementale,” a discussion will be held about the Disney/Searchlight film, Chevalier. Conferences, masterclasses, exhibits, and concerts run through November 24, providing an opportunity to enjoy such renowned international names as Angela Brown (soprano), Léïla Brédent (soprano), J’Nai Bridges (mezzo-soprano), Koh Gabriel Kameda (violin), Ifatayo (cello), Beatrice Long (piano), Rebeca Omordia (piano), and Fabien Thouand (oboe).
The festival pays tribute to one of the most important personalities in the history of France: Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges. Born in Guadeloupe, he was considered the most brilliant man in 18th-century Europe by American president John Adams. This forward-thinking, virtuoso violinist, and orchestra conductor influenced some of the most important men of his time, such as Mozart, Gossec, and Haydn, as well as authors such as Alexandre Dumas.
