Dominica’s Tourist Office – Discover Dominica – went to Guadeloupe, along with several accommodation managers, to present the island’s assets and new tourist projects at a press conference. It was held on July 28 at the Salako hotel in Le Gosier. “I invite people to fall in love with Dominica again. And if you haven’t yet discovered your nearest neighbor island, you should seize this opportunity, enthused Kimberly King, Marketing Director of Discover Dominica. She spoke of the many unique experiences Dominica has to offer. This 754 km2 territory has indeed very much to offer for all kinds of visitors: adventures, relaxed times, or even authentic and cultural exchanges.
QUALITY ACCOMMODATION ~The accommodation managers coming with the Discover Dominica delegation presented their new offers. Since Hurricane Maria in 2017, strong development work has led to the emergence of a more diversified accommodation offer. The reconstruction of Jungle Bay on the Soufrière side, the renovation of Rosalie Bay Eco-Resort, the new prestigious Cabrits Resort & Spa Kempinski, alongside establishments such as Secret Bay, Fort Young Hotel, Citrus Creek Plantation and many others, for everyone to find customized and suitable accommodation.
SPEARHEADING CULTURAL TOURISM ~ The World Kréyol Music Festival, Dominica’s flagship annual event, attracts thousands of Guadeloupeans. It will be held this year from October 28 to 30. The program has not been revealed but, «no matter who the headliners will be, the World Kréyol Music Festival is a great musical event not to be missed,» insists Gordon Henderson, cultural ambassador at the press conference. Beyond this essential event on the calendar, other musical and cultural events may also be of interest to Guadeloupe which shares Creole culture and many musical influences with its neighboring island. With Jazz’N Créole in May, the brand new «Cadence-Lypso Tribute Festival» in July, the Carnival in February or the discovery of Kalinago culture, tourists can enjoy artistic discoveries all year round.
NICHES TO EXPLORE ~Dominica is called «the nature island» because of its rich and lush vegetation and its sustainable approach to tourism. It has the second largest bubbling lake in the world and has more than 365 rivers! Kimberly King evoked these niche experiences that are strong assets today in terms of development. Hiking enthusiasts and adventurers in the forest can rub shoulders with the longest trail in the Caribbean, the Waitukubuli. Sea lovers can observe whales and other marine mammals, or indulge in exceptional scuba diving.
