Urban art, aviation and performance: these are the three pillars of the Karukera Arts Show that will be held from May 8 to 10, 2020 at St-François aerodrome, Guadeloupe.
The event aims to raise public awareness of pollution issues.
“… Pollution of the planet is not as serious as people say. It is way more serious.“ With this quote by Belgian artist Philippe Geluck, the “Art s’en Mêle” gallery presents its perspective with the Karukera Arts Show (KAS): relying on Art to preserve the environment. In collaboration with four Guadeloupean artists, the event will be held from May 8 to 10, 2020 at Saint-François aerodrome. Steek, a graffiti artist, bodypainter and artist on canvas, BiZo, the mixrecycling specialist, and Nywo and Myki of the association 4KG will combine urban art, design and aviation through live performances. This cultural and educational event will recycle airplane parts through contemporary art.
The l’Art s’en Mêle concept that spearheads the KAS project was born in 2019. It is a space dedicated to promoting Art and Culture, “a springboard for young Caribbean artistic talents, a booster of innovative ideas at the service of culture and social development, ” the project leaders explain. An art gallery, a “space for Art Coworking,” a Fine Arts boutique and soon an artists’ residence, l’Art s’en Mêle has already exhibited 50 Caribbean artists and welcomed 3500 visitors. With the KAS, the concept will further emphasize “its desire to promote Art through innovative events and eco-responsible initiatives”.
