THE LOVE SONG OF SAÏNA MANOTTE AND MAXIME MANOT’

True love resounds when Saïna Manotte and Maxime Manot’ sing “it’s always you” in their song that was released in April 2023. Originally from mainland France and French Guiana respectively, these two artists are singing from their hearts. And for good reason: they are a happily married couple.

Their marriage is one where complicity, sensuality, and love provide the foundation for their working together. In the song “C’est toujours toi” (It’s Always You), Saïna Manotte and Maxime Manot’, bride and groom, marry their musical sensibilities to celebrate their union in song. Let’s meet them.

SHE ~ Saïna Manotte grew up in French Guiana. As a child, she was already passionate about dance and music—first playing the organ—and continued her advanced studies in these disciplines. She earned her master’s in musicology in Paris and started to write her own songs. Her first album, “Ki moun mo sa,” came out in 2019 and met with much success, as she established her identity as a Creole woman with universality, force, and mellowness. On her second album, “Dibout” (editor’s note: Upright), she examines the notion of resilience, with well-known guest artists. In a duo with Misié Sadik, “Toujours Dibout” she confronts the adversity and challenges faced by women. In her songs, which showcase her velvet, voluptuous, and strong voice, she loves, revindicates, supports, or rebels in a subtle dance of musical styles, where RnB, pop, reggae, dancehall, afrobeat, zouk , and even rock, all resonate.

HE ~ Maxime Manot’, also a professional musicologist—they met during while at school—is a songwriter-composer, singer, and bassist. He first became known online: his talent, like his candor, explain his exceptional capacity to attract followers on social media. Today, more than 20,000 people follow him on a daily basis. In 2017, the video of his acapella version of “Ma singulière” was met with an avalanche of views. His single, “Slow,” was also met with a lot of enthusiasm by the public, with a total of 130,000 views in less than a week. Same level of success for his EP* “La grande roue,” which includes the positive pop song “Courir Après des Rêves.” Pure joy for his listeners.

THEM ~ Naturally, the marriage and musical association of these talented songwriters, composers, and performers, informs their work, mixing the different personalities of these two protagonists in a savvy, well-balanced, manner. As when they sing together in the song, “L’avis des gens” written by Maxime Manot’. Or watching Maxim Manot’ play himself in the clip by Saïna Manotte, “Ta priorité.” Their audience especially liked their surprise duet in the song “San to,” sung live at the Encre in Cayenne. Their fans also appreciate their acapella interpretations, as well as their poignant cover versions of “Ne me quitte pas” by Jacques Brel, “Je l’aime à mourir” by Francis Cabrel, and “Hymne à l’amour” by Edith Piaf, shot outdoors in full nature. While one can imagine their permanent creative interaction on a daily basis, it’s really the song “C’est toujours toi,” co-written and accompanied by a video clip, that really shows off the artistic prowess of these two love birds.

  • EP: An Extended Play is a musical recording that contains more tracks than a single but fewer than an album or LP record: usually 4 to 6 songs.
